The Duchampian Motor is a simple motor in which a coil of wire periodically repels a set of small magnets mounted onto the rim of a bicycle wheel.

The piece is an homage to the art worlds first kinetic sculpture, The Bicycle Wheel, created by Marcel Duchamp in 1912. Duchamp said about his sculpture “I enjoyed looking at it, just as I enjoy looking at flames dancing in a fireplace.”


HOW IT WORKS
Duchampian Motor is not a motorized bicycle wheel. It is a motor which uses a bicycle wheel as its armature.
